"Opening branch here is in line with Central Government's vision to have banks in every nook and corner of the country as banks are very important for progress and development. During the two days of my stay here, I can see J&K Bank has done a superb job", he added.

Besides stressing upon the need to increase digital banking for more transparency in the system, Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao directed the Bank to prioritize crop and dairy loans.

"I am sure this branch will play a significant role in economic progress of the area and aspiring entrepreneurs especially small ones will get the much needed financial assistance from the bank", the union minster said.

Speaking on the occasion, the CMD asserted that the Bank's business units have historically been agents of steady socio-economic transformation in J&K and Ladakh.

"We have established this business-unit in such a remote area to facilitate people financially and provide them world-class banking facilities. The Bank also envisions to have its business units in the unbanked areas of J&K and Ladakh", said the CMD while urging the people to avail the benefits of social security schemes and other government sponsored schemes besides Bank's products and services.

With the opening of this branch, the total number of Bank's business units has reached 966.
