J&K Bank shares happiness and grief of the people: Chairman
Being socially and economically responsible institution of the state, J&K Bank always shares the happiness as well as the moments of grief of the people. The bank has always stood by the people of the state during long span of turbulence. The bank is always prepared to extend helping hand to commerce and industry within relevant parameters.
This was stated by Mushtaq Ahmad, Chairman and CEO, J&K Bank, today during interaction with all executive members of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) who had organsied interactive session with the chairman.
Executive President Ajit Singh along with the presidents were also present in the meeting. While as KCCI was represented by President Nazir Ahmad Dar and Sr. Vice president Abdul Hamid Punjabi.
KCCI President, Nazir Ahmad welcomed the Chairman and presented the agenda of the meeting.
He said, "From the last six months, the economic activities in the valley have reached to lowest ebb which has resulted in heavy losses to the traders, industrialists and other sectors. So we suggest that J&K Bank should come forward to waive-off all the interest for the last six months".
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmad said, "J&K Bank is the guardian of the industry, commerce and trade of the people of this state. The bank would document and conduct a serious analysis of the situation that our traders' fraternity, industry and commerce have been facing during the last six months."
The document would then be presented to the state government, State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), Central Government and Reserve Bank Of India (RBI).
However, putting the speculations of interest waive-off at rest, the chairman said that it subject meriting serious analysis and impact study. The chairman also announced the re-activation of Advisory Committee comprising of representatives from both the Bank and the Chamber. Executive President Ajit Singh would lead the J&K Bank team that includes Presidents Tafazal Hussein, Parvez Ahmad and Zonal Head (Central Kmr) Abdul Hamid Banday. KCCI will furnish details of their representatives shortly.The committee would deliberate upon the problems of trading industry and try to find out solutions to these.
It is pertinent to mention that various issues about general trade, different sectors of Kashmir economy like handicraft, tourism, horticulture, agriculture, and public transport were discussed in the meeting.
