J&K Bank launches ‘Operation Clean Up'
As a front runner to the public cause, J & K Bank today launched Operation Clean-Up, a drive to provide good quality and fresh cash to the general public through its various business outlets and ATMs throughout the country.
K. K. Sharma, President, Supervision and Controls, of the bank formally launched the programme at a simple but impressive function. Sharma also inaugurated a workshop on "Security Features of a genuine Currency Note and Cash Management" organized by expert faculty from Reserve bank of India. Around 45 participants dealing with cash operations at various business units of the bank attended the workshop.
While giving elaborate details of the ‘Operation Clean –Up', Sharma said, "Sorting of cash into issuable and non-issuable categories at the business units and currency chests of the bank shall be taken at a massive scale and the exercise would be completed by 26th of this month. After this date, no branch shall be issuing any bad quality or non-issuable currency note to the public."
The ultimate objective of the ‘operation' was to phase out the bad quality cash from the market and ensure only genuine and fresh/good quality notes are circulated in the market, he said. He further revealed that Dr. Haseeb Drabu, Chairman & CE of the bank, has desired educating the clientele of the bank and general public about genuine and fake currency notes.
On this occasion, services of the Branch Head, Town Hall Jammu and the currency chest officer of the branch were also recognized for having cleaned the currency chest of all the non-issuable and soiled notes and not a single non-issuable note exists in the said currency chest, said Sharma.
The initiative of the bank was highly appreciated by the officers from RBI who thanked Dr. Drabu for having taken the lead in proper implementation of RBI's Clean Note Policy.
Meanwhile, Madan Gupta, Vice President, Jammu Central Zone advised the participants to gain from the inputs of the awareness programme in terms of knowledge enhancement and skill development and share this knowledge with their colleagues at the business units.
Three vice presidents and business clusters heads of Jammu central Zone were also present on the occasion.
