JK Bank holds SLBC meet for export promotion
The Jammu & Kashmir Bank (Convenor J&K SLBC) organized a Sub-committee meeting of SLBC for export promotion on 14.05.2009 at Bank's Corporate Headquarters Srinagar. Mr. Abdul Majid Mir Executive Director/CFO of the Bank chaired the meeting. Executive Director while initiating discussion outlined the purpose of the meeting especially in the present environment and highlighted various issues which needed discussion /deliberation of the house. KCCI hailed the initiative of J&K Bank for protection and development of Handicrafts business as well as artisans of the state who are suffering in the wake of global problems. It is pertinent to mention that the bank has recently launched different finance schemes for artisans, manufacturers, traders and exporters in view of the present slowdown in the exports. Chamber requested other banks operating in J&K state to follow the steps taken by J&K Bank for handicraft industry in the state. It was desired that DGFT and ECGC of India Ltd should open their offices in Srinagar. Demand for establishment of Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Srinagar was also made. Chamber desired that government of J&K should come out with interest subvention package to handicraft sector in the present environment. Various other issues raised were taken care of positively.
The prominent participants included Dy General Manager Reserve Bank Of India, Director Finance/Add Sectary finance Department J&K Government, President Kashmir Chamber Of Commerce and Industry, Jt. Director Handicrafts, Asst. commissioner of customs, Senior Vice President Jammu Chamber of commerce, Jt. Director General Foreign Trade(DGFT) Jammu, Representatives from Export credit guarantee corporation of India Ltd (ECGC) and other Banks.
