J&K Bank holds literacy camps

Srinagar, May 3: With a view to make people aware about the banking services and basic finance management, J&K Bank conducted various financial literacy camps in Poonch, Budgam and Kupwara districts in the last few weeks.


Poonch Camps
The bank’s FLCC Center Poonch organized a camp at village Bhatadurian Block Balakote that witnessed participation of the cross section of society.
Facilitator FLCC Poonch informed the people about the benefits of banking linkage and asked them to open their accounts in the nearest Business unit of Banks so that they can take the benefit from various deposit and lending schemes of the banks.
Another such camp was conducted at Government Higher Secondary Institute (Boys) Surankote. The camp presided over by Principal of the school was attended by the students and staff of the school.
Meanwhile RSETI Poonch conducted a 21-days training programme on "Dress Designing for Women", in which 24 unemployed youth from 12 villages were imparted training.
Director RSETI assured all the participants of providing total support for establishment of their income generating units.

Budgam Camps
With a view to apprise the students about the loan schemes devised by the banks for educational needs, FLCC center Budgam organized a financial literacy camp at Boys Higher Secondary School (Budgam). A large number of students along with the faculty members participated in the camp.
Facilitator FLCC Budgam highlighted the role and importance of banks in rural areas which facilitates weaker sections of society an easy access to the financial services at affordable costs.
The students were educated about the Students Saving Bank Account Schemes introduced by the Bank which caters to the requirements of student community drawing scholarships from the government. District Development Manager NABARD apprised the participants about various income generating schemes under farm sector and self employment activities and assured to provide adequate and timely credit from the banking system in a flexible hassle-free and cost effective manner.
The vice-principal of the school thanked the FLCC team for conducting the camp which, he said, would help the students in achieving their goals.
The center conducted similar camps at Elite Educational and Skill Development Institute Budgam and in Village Hayatpora, Nagam.  

Kupwara Camps
The bank’s FLCC Kupwara organised an awareness camp at Darpora Lolab in collaboration with Lead Bank and Cluster Office Kupwara where in a large number of people participated representing almost all the sections of the area.
Facilitator Kupwara while welcoming the participants appraised them about the importance, concept and the purpose of such camps.
Cluster Head gave a detailed account of various people friendly deposit and loan schemes offered by the Bank.  He advised the participants to open accounts with the financial institutions and assured them of hassle free services.
