J&K Bank donates motorbike to a physically challenged student
Upholding the philanthropic banner aloft under its corporate citizen character, the J & K Bank today donated a specially designed motorbike to a physically challenged student of G.G.M. Science College, Jammu.
The keys of the bike were handed over to the physically challenged Part II student Sanjeev by A.K. Mehta, the Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer of the bank in a simple but impressive function attended by the Principal, professors, students and bank staff. Speaking on the occasion Mehta said that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the bank puts on a high pedestal the care, concern and well being of the people. He said that apart from discharging its business obligations in a most professional and responsible way, the bank never loses sight of helping the poor and needy through a slew of benevolent initiatives including the environment protection measures. The bank has established a Social Conscience Trust that takes care of education of the poor and downtrodden, medical facilities to the needy, suffering from serious ailments and protection and preservation of the heritage complexes, the Executive Director said. He further added that the bank has a well laid plan of reaching out to the unreached and unbanked areas through most advanced technological and E-Banking initiatives.
Earlier, Mr. Madan Gupta, Vice President, Jammu Central Zone, said that the bank has been since long maintaining parks and gardens, sponsoring sports events, funding science conferences, organizing community events and actively participating in fairs and festivals to remain connected to the common people. He wished the student all success in life. Dr. Sham Lal Gupta, Principal of the college, spoke highly about the social contribution of the bank and wanted the bank to maintain its tempo of being ‘a friend, philosopher and guide' to the people He requested the bank authorities to take over the college complex for maintaining the prestige and glory of this heritage building. He thanked the bank management for standing out to such a noble cause.
