J&K Bank donates Computers to Orphanage
Keeping alive its tradition to provide assistance to the orphans and physically challenged persons, J&K Bank handed over five computer systems and a printer to an orphanage run by a local NGO CHINAR Foundation here today. The computers were handed over to the CHINAR management by the Bank's Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, Mr. A. K. Mehta. Speaking on the occasion Mr Mehta, said, "To address the needs of the orphans - whose parents are no more to take care of their livelihood, education and well-being - demands a collective effort from the society. It is in this backdrop J&K Bank sponsors education of these not-so fortunate children. By providing computers we want to nurture their technical abilities so as to open job opportunities for them in this information-technology driven world". Mr Mehta further said that J&K Bank, state's biggest corporate house, is fully conscious of its corporate social responsibility: "We don't believe in simple donations and sponsorships but the idea of empowering the people is always at the root of our every CSR initiative". He stated that the bank, under the dynamic leadership of Dr Haseeb A. Drabu, has achieved success at all levels. "It is his charismatic leadership that has made Bank socially relevant and economically sound. He is always on the forefront to do something for the society," Mr. Mehta said. "I salute the CHINAR Foundation management for working on this noble cause. And there seems to be a factor of professionalism that makes this effort different. I can read the body language of these kids which clearly reflects that they are being grown up in a serene homely atmosphere," Mr Mehta said while complimenting the CHINAAR management and its staff. Apart from the children who are brought up at the orphanage, those who were present on the occasion include Mr Khurshid Pandit, Vice President of the Bank and office bearers of the CHINAR Foundation.
