J&K Bank conducts plantation drive

Srinagar, Mar 21: On the occasion of World Arbour Day, J&K Bank planted hundreds of saplings comprising of various species across Badamvaer, a picturesque Srinagar park. The park is developed and maintained by the Bank under its Heritage Preservation Programme.


Led by the Bank’s Executive Presidents Parvez Ahmad, Abdul Hamid Banday and O P Sharma, Presidents, Vice-presidents and other senior officers planted different trees in the park.


Commenting on the plantation drive, Executive President Parvez Ahmad said, “We are a socially conscious institution and we understand our role in preservation of state ecology. In an emblematic sense, it is a gesture of celebrating the occasion of Navroz and World Arbour Day.”


Speaking on the occasion, Executive President Abdul Hamid Banday said, “This act of plantation is symbolic. Yet the substance is to convey that J&K Bank remains committed to the cause of community development, of which environmental preservation is an important undertaking.”


As a bank our vision is to engender economic transformation of this place and environmental awareness has to be part of that overall development, said Executive President O P Sharma after he planted an almond sapling.
