J&K Bank conducts customer meet in Poonch, awareness camp in Thanamandi
J&K Bank yesterday held a customer meet at its Business Unit (B/U) in Draba, Poonch, which was attended by valuable customers representing cross section of business community, senior citizens and other residents.
Cluster Head Poonch, Ghulam Jeelani Shah presided over the meeting attended by BDO, Sarpanches & Heads of the B/Us Draba, Poonch & Surankote besides other bank officials.
The customers hailed efforts of the Bank aimed at people's socio-economic empowerment and expressed their satisfaction over the services delivered by the bank.
BDO expressed his satisfaction over achievements of targets under SGSY scheme & overall MGNREGA payments. He stressed upon the Sarpanch/panch to co-operate with the BU for implementation of the financial inclusion & for recovery of loans.
While speaking on the occasion Cluster Head gave a brief overview of Bank's Financial Inclusion programme which envisages bringing more and more un-banked populations within the fold of financial system and highlighted the initiatives taken by the bank in this regard.
He urged the people to come forward to open no-frill accounts and also emphasized on various benefits by availing the benefits of various credit schemes of the bank especially under SKEWPY.
During the meeting many participants including the Sarpanch emphasized the need of new Business Unit at Faisalabad besides demanding installation of ATM at Draba.
Cluster Head assured the gathering that 3 new ATMs would be installed in the region shortly at Draba, Surankote & Ghaluta.
B/U Head Draba Y. P. Siani presented the vote of thanks and promised to look into the various related issues raised by the customers in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Bank organized an Awareness Camp at Village Behrote (Thanamandi) to educate common people about Financial Inclusion in remote and far off places. B/U Head Behrote, Ved Parkash Sharma welcomed the Lead District Manager Rajouri Arvind Kapoor, local Panchs, Sarpanches and other locals.
Addressing the gathering LDM Arvind Kapoor briefed them about Financial Inclusion programme to bring the unbanked villages under the ambit of banking services according to the guidelines set by RBI.
He informed them about Bank's programme of reaching out to people so that the deprived sections of society are brought within the ambit of banking services for betterment of socio-economic conditions.
He also spoke about the services delivered by Khidmat Centres established by the Bank in the areas without Bank's B/U and impressed upon the people to avail basic banking services in their own villages through smart cards to be issued to account holders.
He asked public to open their accounts through their VLEs which is the first step towards Financial Inclusion and said that the programme was not limited to just deposit of money but extended to various credit facilities also for their economic growth.
People present at the camp lauded the role of Bank in spreading awareness about Financial Inclusion and providing basic banking facilities at their doorsteps.
