J&K Bank branches functioned despite holiday. Customers appreciate proactive approach of the bank

Despite being a holiday, all functional business units (branches) of J&K Bank in the Kashmir valley today observed full working day. Hassle free banking and financial services were rendered to the customers across the valley. Almost Rs.31 crores were withdrawn from these branches and 242 active automated teller machines (ATMs) across the valley. This includes an amount ofRs.23 crores withdrawn from active branches.


Meanwhile, J&K Bank President, Abdul Rauf Bhat, has hailed the patience of customers and efforts of the bank staff to make it possible for the bank to render normal banking services to the people. He said, “Despite extreme conditions our staff, which too was affected by the floods, put their best foot forward to put the banking system back on track. For the first few days everyone was clueless, but the tremendous efforts of the staff made it possible to restore banking services. Meantime, customers of the bank also exhibited exemplary patience in extreme conditions which didn’t allow occurrence of any kind of panic. I salute my staff for coming to the expectations of the people of the valley.”


The senior president further said that the bank has always remained at the fore front of the people of the state in extreme distress situation and shall continue to support their development towards prosperity. “At this hour of grief let me again apprise you about the assurance of our chairman & chief executive officer that the bank shall be a major partner in rebuilding the shattered infrastructure and economy of the affected areas,” he said.


Notably, customers across the valley appreciated the proactive approach of the bank in making its branches and most of the ATMs functional in minimum possible time in the flood affected areas. “When all authorities were clueless as how to respond the calamity, it was J&K Bank which had already started putting its branches and ATMs on active mode. We didn’t experience an kind of cash distress situation,” said a section of customers.
