J&K Bank beat Forest in final to lift 2nd Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup
J&K Bank lifted the 2nd Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup by defeating J&K Forest 7-6 in a tie breaker here at GGM Science College. J&K Bank Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad and J&K Bank Sports Board Chairman Tafazal Hussain hailed the performance of the bank team and congratulated them for winning the prestigious trophy.
Both the teams began today's final campaign by playing aggressive football. In the 24th minute of the first half it was Forest who scored the first goal. Despite playing attacking football, the bank team failed to score equaliser in the first half.
In the second half, the bank players got their act together and scored back to back goals through their striker Ibrahim in 55th and 60th minute. However, they failed to maintain the lead, as the Forest team got the equalizer in 80th min. At the end of the stipulated time the score was 2-2 and the game directly went to tie breaker. For the Bank all their 7 players scored the penalty whereas Forest missed one.
Er RS Chib was the chief guest on the occasion.
Notably, J&K Bank Sports Board Chairman, Tafazal Hussain was present in the stadium and watched the match till the end. Other guests who witnessed the match were Raman Bhalla, Kiran Wattal, GM Sahibzada, executive President of the Bank, M. S. Wani, Vice President of the bank and JKFA officials.
