Bank achieves cent percent financial inclusion in Basgo village : JK Bank Smart Cards reach Leh
J&K Bank after achieving 100 percent financial inclusion in Basgo village in district Leh, distributed 137 smart cards among the villagers on 25 March 2010. Basgo village comprises of 180 households was adopted by the J&K Bank under RBI's outreach programme in connection with celebration of its Platinum Jubilee Year.
The Smart Cards were distributed at a simple but impressive function presided over by Deputy Commissioner Leh, A K Sahu. AGM RBI, C Sahoo was also present on the occasion. The Zonal Head J&K Bank Ladakh Zone, Vagish Chander welcomed the guest and in his inaugural address informed the gathering that the J&K Bank in pursuance of RBI's objective of reaching out to the people of the state has taken the initiative of extending banking services through Information and Communication technology (ICT) to their doorsteps and requested the people to take advantage of these technology driven services.
The Deputy Commissioner Leh in his address thanked the RBI for having selected village Basgo for 100% financial inclusion and appreciated the efforts made by J&K Bank in bringing the villagers under the banking fold. He educated the gathering about the importance of financial inclusion initiated to extend the banking services through technology driven solutions to their doorsteps. He exhorted the people to come forward to make this venture a great success by availing the benefits of these services.
The AGM RBI C Sahoo in his vote of thanks congratulated the gatherings of village Basgo being the first village of Leh to be selected under village adoption programme of RBI. He expressed that in the near future the people shall be availing the benefits of the technology based banking services at their door steps for their over all development.
