It helps to promote tourism sector and showcases J&K as a destination of adventure sports lovers - Chairman
With 3rd J&K Bank Mughal Rally just two days away, J&K is all set to host one of India's biggest motor sporting events. The three day mega event, organized by Himalayan Motorsports, a Shimla based reputed motor sports event organizers in association with J&K Tourism, is sponsored by J&K Bank, one of the best old generation private sector banks in India.
Scheduled to be flagged off on June 30 from Royal Springs Golf Course Srinagar, the rally will culminate on July 2.
Describing the Bank's role in the rally as more of support than sponsorship, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Chairman & CEO, J&K Bank said, "We look at it more from the larger perspective of Corporate Social Responsibility than an opportunity for advertising or brand promotion. Our contribution should be seen in the context of our consistent efforts to promote sports and propagate its culture in the state.
"While sports are a priority in Bank's CSR policy, we see a dual purpose being served in the J&K Bank Mughal Rally. One, it helps to promote state's tourism sector and two, it showcases J&K as a destination for lovers of adventure sports, both nationally as well as internationally", he added.
Notably, J&K Bank has a full-fledged Sports Board in place to oversee the initiatives undertaken by the Bank to promote and propagate various sporting events and activities.
The beauty of 3rd J&K Bank Mughal Rally is off beat circuit, exploring untouched areas like the Sinthan Pass, Pir Ki Gali, Bafliaz and the picturesque medieval Mughalsarai at Aliabag along the historic Mughal Road, a heritage road that connects Kashmir valley with the Jammu division's Rajouri-Poonch belt. The event has generated a lot of interest from motorsport lovers with big teams like Mahindra, Tata and Maruti participating in the event. Renowned rally drivers like Gaurav Gill, Karamjit Singh, Lohitt Urs, Sunny Sidhu, Arindam Ghosh , Suresh Rana, Sanjay Takale of Pune and Taufeeq Mughal of J&K will be participating in the event.
The event has two categories -- Xtreme and Enduro. The Xtreme is about outright speed, while the Enduro follows the TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) format. The Xtreme will return from Bafliaz while Enduro will proceed to Jammu after crossing Mughal Road at Bafliaz.
