Reaching out to the poorest and the needy in this lockdown due to Corona Virus, J&K Bank  Zonal Head Jammu Central I Sunit Kumar  distributed dry ration to  the homeless labourers and daily wagers. The distribution of such items was undertaken on the directions of the Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Chibber. J&K Bank being an integral element of the society is sensitive towards the lowest section of the society also. With this inclusiveness in view, the CMD has issued such instructions. Notably, Zonal Head Jammu Central I distributed ration among 170 poor families during this drive. The beneficiaries hailed the move by the Bank.

In his statement the CMD said, “We have issued instructions to our Zonals Heads to identify the poorest and the needy in their respective zones and try to provide relief in the form of dry ration for their sustenance. Though it is not possible for the bank to reach to every such location, bank must still do its bit in this direction wherever possible” adding that J&K Bank is an integrally interwoven institution in the society in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh and people are emotionally attached to this institution.

Appealing the general public not to throng to the branches, the CMD said, “Bank has in place efficient digital modes of banking ie m-Pay and e-banking, therefore people should make the best use of these digital modes in the current scenario as stepping out of home could expose them to risk. We are concerned about the well being of everyone associated with us we request everyone to stay at home”

Meanwhile responding to a query about the beneficiaries of social security schemes including women PMJDY and PM Kissan beneficiaries, the CMD assured that the money credited into the accounts of such beneficiaries stays safe in their accounts only and can be withdrawn later also when the conditions are relatively safer. He advised such beneficiaries to stay calm and not to rush to the branches for withdrawing money. “It is not a wise move to risk ones life. People should understand that this disease spreads mostly due to the intermingling of people and everyone must co-operate and follow regular guidelines issued by the health and administrative authorities.”
