J&K Bank convenes 4 back-to-back BLBC meetings

J&K Bank, which is the convener SLBC, conducted four back-to-back Block Level Banker’s Committee (BLBC) meetings for the blocks Harwan, Khonmoh, Qamarwari and Srinagar to review the progress achieved in flow of credit to priority sector, sponsored and social security schemes, financial inclusion, and digital penetration. The review of the blocks covered period upto October 31 of the current fiscal.

Block Development Officers (BDOs) of the concerned blocks, Lead District Officer RBI, DDM NABARD, senior officers of the line departments and representatives of banks operating in the respective blocks of the district attended the meetings convened by the Lead Bank Office Srinagar.

Lead District Manager (LDM) Srinagar, Mohammad Muzzafar Wani while chairing the meetings observed that the banks operating in the blocks were on course to achieve the credit flow targets aggregating to Rs. 5500 Cr for the district. However, he stressed, the lending under priority sector and sponsored schemes needed more focus to achieve the set targets.
He asked the banks and the line departments to ensure enthusiastic participation in the ongoing Financial Inclusion (FI) campaign launched under the aegis of Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP). The campaign has been launched for creating mass awareness about various credit linked government sponsored schemes and to achieving 100 pc penetration under social security schemes.

BDO Assabah Khan also directed the officials of the various line departments to ensure participation in the FI campaign besides stressing on the need to maintain effective coordination with the banks to ensure hassle free delivery of services and to maximize benefits to the economically deprived populace under the various government sponsored schemes.   
Notably, under the campaign, the frontline workers having representation from banks, Business Correspondents, FLCCs, RSETIs and Rural Development Departments reach out to the rural masses through gram sabhas for creating the desired awareness about employment generation and other welfare schemes as well as on-the-spot enrolment under the social security schemes.
