RBI Organizeds Customer Service Meeting

A Customer Service Meeting of the Foreign Exchange Department, Reserve Bank of India for Jammu & Kashmir was held today at RBI Office Srinagar under the Chairmanship of Shri D.K. Kashyap, Deputy General Manager and In-charge Foreign Exchange Department for Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Customs and Central Excise Shri Jayapal. J, IRS, Shri Vikas Deshmukh, Representative of ECGC, senior Officers of all the Authorized Dealers (ADs) operating in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, FFMCs and a sizeable number of forex customers.

In his Key note address, Shri Kashyap highlighted the importance of organizing these meetings and dwelt at length the role and responsibilities of Authorized Dealers in meeting the genuine requirement of Forex users within the provisions of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999. He exhorted the Authorized Dealers to educate their customers about various facilities available to exporters, importers, travelers, businessmen, tourists etc. without contravening the provisions of the FEMA, 1999. He also discussed latest developments in the arena of foreign exchange regulation which sought to align the regulatory requirements with the market demands while ensuring hassle free services to the customer.

Sh. Anil Reshi, Manager, RBI, Jammu discussed current issues related to trade that has been engaging attention of ADs and RBI alike. He emphasized that customers should freely express their difficulties so that regulatory interventions can be brought in wherever necessary. Customers shared their experiences and also raised queries which were answered by the ADs. The Customers thanked RBI for holding this meeting at Srinagar and desired that more such events should be organized in future.
